Take attendance
Mark students present, late or absent with one tap per student, right from your phone.
Calendar and attendance2 min read
Attendance takes a few seconds per class. Each tap saves on its own, so there's no save button to forget.
Open the attendance sheet#
You can get there a few ways:
- Teachers: open My classes in the menu and choose Take attendance on the class. Owners and admins who teach find My classes under Calendar.
- From Calendar: choose the class, then Take attendance.
- From a class page: on the Overview tab, under Upcoming sessions, choose the date.
Mark each student#
Each student has three buttons:
| Button | Means |
|---|---|
| P | Present |
| L | Late |
| A | Absent |
Tap the one that fits. To change a mark, just tap a different button.
The bar at the top keeps count, for example "12 of 14 here, 2 to mark". It stays on screen as you scroll.
Mark everyone present at once#
Choose All present to mark the whole class present in one tap. If you've already marked a few students, the button says Rest present and only marks the students you haven't marked yet.
Tip: For a big class, tap the few absent or late students first, then choose Rest present.
Who's on the sheet#
The sheet lists everyone expected in that session. Some students have a label under their name:
- Trial: a student trying the class.
- Make-up: a student making up a missed class.
- Drop-in: a student who paid for just this class.
- Family reported an absence: the parent already told the studio this student will be away.
Saving#
Next to the count you'll see Saving… and then Saved. If your connection drops, you'll see Not saved and a Retry button. Your taps are kept, so choose Retry once you're back online.
If a student was withdrawn from the class while you had the sheet open, FrontRow refreshes the sheet and tells you that mark wasn't saved.
Who can take attendance#
| Role | Can mark attendance for |
|---|---|
| Owner, admin, front desk | Any class |
| Teacher | Only the classes they're teaching |
If a teacher opens a class they don't teach, they can see the sheet but not change it.
