Make a front desk sale
Sell store items to a family at the front desk and charge their account, their card on file, or take cash or a check.

When a parent buys something in person, like new ballet shoes before class, use Front desk sale. The sale is recorded against the family, stock goes down, and sales tax is added to taxable items.
Owners, admins and front desk staff can make front desk sales.
Make a sale#
- Open Store in the menu, then Front desk sale.
- Under Find a family, type the parent's name or email.
- Pick the family from the Family list.
- Choose an Item, then its Size / color if it has options, and the Qty. Select Add.
- Repeat for anything else they're buying. The cart shows the subtotal, tax and total. You can change quantities or remove items there.
- Under Payment, choose how they're paying (see below).
- Select Sell for and the total.
You'll see a confirmation with the amount, and a View ledger link to the family's account history.
Ways to pay#
- Charge to account: adds the total to the family's balance, to be paid like any other charge.
- Card on file: charges the family's saved card now. If the family has account credit, it's used first and the card is only charged the rest.
- Cash: records a cash payment. Add an optional Reference if you like.
- Check: records a check payment. Enter the Check number as the reference.
What if the card doesn't go through?#
If the saved card is declined, the amount is added to the family's account instead, so nothing is lost. If the bank needs to confirm the payment, it shows as processing and stays on the account until it goes through.
Selling to someone who isn't a family yet#
Front desk sales are always linked to a family. For a new customer, add the family first (see Add a family), or send them to your online store to check out as a guest.
Good to know: Items that are sold out can't be added. Items marked Front desk only can only be sold here.
